An enclosed track freestanding workstation cranes system
Freestanding workstation cranes enable you to achieve effortless and reliable area-servicing overhead handling for a wide range of applications, anywhere ergonomic, controlled and fast material transfer is important.
Floor mounted systems are not a permanent part of your factory and therefore can easily be relocated in the future. The installation is often much simpler and does not apply stresses to the building roof structure.
Freestanding Workstation Cranes: Design Details
The strong yet light weight enclosed rail design enables thee push type cranes to be up to three times easier to move than standard bridge cranes. Consistent ease of operation over the full range of movement makes them outstanding as freestanding workstation cranes for lighter loads in manufacturing and warehouse applications and anywhere ergonomic, controlled and fast material transfer is important.
Freestanding workstation cranes are pre-engineered for quick shipping in 5-10 business days. Complete drawings are supplied with each system. Ceiling-mounted workstation bridge crane systems are delivered complete with all mounting and connection hardware. The crane systems are labeled with easy installation instructions for on-site bolt together assembly. Six inches of reinforced concrete floor is enough to bolt the supporting steel columns to. Spans of these systems are limited to 34 feet or shorter and typically have column spacing of 20, 25 ft 30 ft. These systems are commonly used with an electric chain hoist, air hoist, air balancer or vacuum lifter.

CraneWerks is a Manufacturer and Supplier of Freestanding Workstation Cranes
CraneWerks manufactures an original line of industrial crane systems and supplies systems, parts and service for other makes of free standing enclosed rail systems including Met-Track, Gorbel, Kundel, and Spanco. We work with our dealers on crane systems and components that best fit their application and needs.
Most enclosed rail workstation crane systems are equipped with push/pull bridge cranes. Some applications may require motor driven bridge or trolleys. These cranes are available with optional electric or air powered tractor drives. These tractor drives can easily be added to existing bridge cranes and trolleys. When considering motorized cranes, standard I beam cranes are often more economical.
MET-TRACK
The Met-Track steel track design is one of high strength and low weight by combining the running track profile with standoff reinforcement to considerably increase span distances. The “V” shaped profile of the running track ensures alignment of the trolleys and end truck and prevent dirt accumulation inside the tracks.
Machined wheels with crowned tread and precision sealed bearings fitted ensure absolute minimum rolling resistance and provide long operational life.
Floor mounted freestanding workstation cranes provide systems that are not a permanent part of your factory and therefore can easily be relocated in the future. The installation is often much simpler and does not apply stresses to the building roof structure.
Met-Track System Features:
- Four running track profiles to select from – 400, 500, 600 and 700 Series
- Long spans allow systems to be installed with the minimum of supports, maximizing the work cell layout
- Enclosed track cranes are up to three times easier to move than traditional bridge cranes
- Small sized profiles for bridges, runways and headers allow systems to be installed where headroom is a problem
Gorbel
Gorbel systems are available in steel, aluminum and stainless steel. Gorbel enclosed track freestanding workstation cranes are among the most versatile to apply and easy to install.
Gorbel cranes feature:
- Trussed Steel Track used for longer spans up to 30 feet which allows more flexibility in crane layout.
- Aluminum Track used where lower bridge weight and easier movement are required. Runway spans up to 20 feet.
SPANCO
SPANCO is a leading crane manufacturer of enclosed track ceiling mounted workstation bridge cranes. All SPANCO workstation bridge cranes meet design requirements for installation and use in seismic zone 4 (assuming that the building structure from which it is hung also meets the same requirements), classified by the Uniform Building Code as the worst earthquake prone areas in North America.
Spanco cranes feature:
- Telescoping bridges provide extended reach to areas beyond a column or under mezzanines, shelving or a neighboring workstation.
- Cantilevered bridges allow coverage of a wider area. One or both ends of the crane bridge can be cantilevered beyond the standard 12 inch overhang.
Kundel
Kundel makes custom, economical crane systems.
Kundel cranes feature:
- Internal electrical bar.
- Conductor bar is installed inside the runway bridge track
- Collectors are built into the trolleys and end trucks
- Raised bridge ends for low headroom applications.
- Beam hangars and wall hangars to create an obstruction free workstation by utilizing pre-existing structures in a facility.
- Cantilever posts with built in leveling adjustments. Cantilevered runway designs are used when standard header braced systems interfere with operations.
